The U.S. Dollar Index rose on Monday after touching its lowest levels in several years,
driven by investor caution ahead of the looming deadline for new tariffs announced by President Donald Trump’s administration,
which are expected to come into effect on August 1.
The index, which measures the greenback’s performance against a basket of six major currencies,
increased 0.1% to 97.26 points as of 11:02 a.m. Mecca time, after falling earlier to 96.89 points.

The Euro

In contrast, the euro fell 0.35% to $1.1741 after approaching its highest level since September 2021.
Meanwhile, the British pound declined 0.45% to $1.3588, following a peak dating back to October 2021.
The Australian and New Zealand dollars were also impacted by prevailing uncertainty ahead of anticipated monetary policy decisions in both countries.

Crypto

Bitcoin continued its upward movement in cryptocurrency markets,
supported by institutional momentum and legislative optimism in the U.S. The largest digital currency
by market capitalization rose 0.4% to $108,900.2,
accounting for approximately 64.7% of the entire crypto market.
Ethereum also advanced 1.6% to $2,577.36, while Ripple increased 0.1% to $2.273.
This positive momentum bolstered investor expectations ahead of “Crypto Week” in Washington,
scheduled for July 14, during which Congress is expected to review three legislative proposals to regulate digital asset markets.
According to data from El Salvador’s Ministry of Finance, the country increased its Bitcoin reserves by 8 units last week,
bringing the total to 6,230.18 units valued at over $679 million.

Stocks

In Europe, stock market indices showed mixed performance amid escalating trade tensions,
especially after China imposed restrictions on medical equipment imports from EU countries in retaliation for previous European measures banning Chinese companies from public tenders.
Germany’s DAX rose 0.35% to 23,870 points, while the UK’s FTSE 100 slipped 0.15% to 8,808 points.
France’s CAC 40 remained flat at 7,695 points.
The pan-European Stoxx Europe 600 index held steady at 541 points,
reflecting mixed performances across market sectors.
