Swiss Inflation Slows More Than Expected in July, Boosting Monetary Stability Expectations

Official data released Thursday by Switzerland’s Federal Statistical Office showed
that July inflation was better than expected, reflecting relative price stability.
The Consumer Price Index rose by 0.2% year-over-year, while markets had expected a slight decline of 0.1%.
This follows a 0.1% rise in June.

Prices remained flat at 0.0% every month compared to June, while expectations had pointed to a 0.2% drop.
This data strengthens expectations that the Swiss National Bank will maintain its current monetary policy,
especially as concerns over deflation risks ease.

Japanese Stocks Record Worst Losses in Four Months Amid Economic and Political Concerns

Japan’s stock market started the week in the red, closing Monday’s session with its sharpest drop in four months,
driven by pressure from U.S. markets and domestic political tensions.

The sell-off followed disappointing U.S. employment data,
which showed weak job growth in July and downward revisions to June’s figures.
This increased concerns about the global economy and impacted investor sentiment across Asia.

Copper Prices Climb on Chile Supply Disruption Despite Global Slowdown Fears

Copper prices rose on Monday amid concerns over supply disruption following the collapse of a primary Chilean mine,
the world’s top copper producer. However, gains were capped by ongoing worries about a global economic slowdown.

According to Reuters, the most actively traded copper futures
on the London Metal Exchange rose by 1%, reaching $9,722.50 per ton.

Meanwhile, September copper contracts on the Chicago exchange remained stable at $4.433 per pound.

State-owned Codelco halted operations at its El Teniente mine last week after a collapse
caused by an earthquake killed six workers. Chile’s mining minister stated that operations would resume only once the site is safe.
