UK Inflation Surges to Highest Level in Over a Year, Surpassing Expectations
Data released by the UK Office for National Statistics on Wednesday morning showed that inflation rose above expectations in April,
reaching its highest level in over a year.

According to the report, the annual inflation rate reached 3.5% in April, up from 2.6% in March, exceeding market expectations of a 3.3% rise.
This marks the highest inflation level in 15 months.

Core inflation — which excludes volatile food and energy prices — also rose to 3.8% year-on-year,
exceeding expectations of 3.6%, while March’s previous reading was 3.4%.

These figures could directly influence the Bank of England’s monetary policy direction in the coming period,
as inflationary pressures persist in the British economy.

Volvo announced the expansion of its partnership with Google,
becoming one of the first automakers to integrate the AI model “Gemini” into its car operating systems as part of a joint effort to develop Android Auto.

Patrick Brady, Vice President of Android Auto at Google, explained that this ongoing collaboration aims to deliver advanced technologies that enhance the driving experience and redefine tech standards in the automotive sector. He added that the expanded partnership will allow Google to use Volvo cars as a reference platform to test new features and system updates before rolling them out to other automakers.

According to Volvo’s statement on Wednesday, the integration of Gemini will enable drivers to use voice commands to draft and translate messages,
ask about road details or vehicle features — paving the way for a smarter and more interactive driving experience.

Billionaire Elon Musk stated that his companies, Tesla and xAI, will continue relying on leading chip manufacturers such as Nvidia and AMD,
and may also partner with other suppliers in the future.

In a Tuesday evening interview with CNBC, Musk revealed that his AI company, xAI,
has already installed 200,000 GPUs at its new facility named “Gigaplex” in Memphis, Tennessee.

As for Tesla, Musk mentioned that the company’s supercomputer “Dojo,” located in its Buffalo,
New York facility, is currently used to train autonomous driving systems and robotics —
reflecting the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its computing power to support advanced AI technologies.
