Following the People’s Bank of China’s resumption of gold purchases last November,
the bank added 5 tons of gold,
bringing total reserves to 2,264 tons, representing 5% of its total holdings.
China’s net gold purchases to date amount to 34 tons.

Official data released on Monday revealed that sales of new battery-powered cars in Germany fell by 27.4% in 2024,
reflecting a crisis in the auto industry within Europe’s largest car market.

According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, approximately 2.8 million new vehicles were registered in the country,
a 1% decline compared to the previous year. Of these, only 380,609 were electric vehicles, accounting for a market share of 13.5%.

The German auto industry is facing broader challenges, including declining demand and a tumultuous transition to electric vehicles.
These challenges have led to a series of job cuts by manufacturers and suppliers.
